Early Life and Inspiration:

Ryan Oneil Shaw was raised in the vibrant urban community of Kencott, Jamaica, before moving to Glendale and attending Melrose All-Age School. After leaving school, he worked in construction as a carpenter but always carried a deep ambition for music. Inspired by his reggae and dancehall idol Sanchez, Ryan aspired to build his career following in the footsteps of one of Jamaica’s most celebrated vocalists.

Career Beginnings:

In 1990, Ryan Oneil made his debut with the single Dreaming on the Oasis Label, quickly capturing listeners with his smooth, velvet voice and memorable lyrics. During the 80s and 90s, like many artists of his time, Ryan—known back then as Thriller T—honed his craft on sound systems, notably the Black Magic system, where he performed live. Recognizing his unique style, the owner of Black Magic introduced Ryan to Arrow’s recording studio, where he recorded several dubs.

Rising in the Music Industry:

Ryan’s ambition to become a recording artist was realized when Derrick Parker introduced him to renowned producer Olive Shaw. Olive signed Ryan to her Capricorn Record label, releasing Slow Down, which became popular with his growing fan base. Sadly, Olive’s passing in a tragic car accident left Ryan in search of a new producer.

After successful auditions at Anchor and Music Works Recording Studio, legendary producer Gussie Clarke signed him to record Right Move, which bolstered Ryan’s reputation in the industry.

Recent Work and Performances:

Ryan’s recent work includes the singles Ah Nuh Me, produced by Doni Marshall, and I’m Just Sayin, produced by Footsteps Records with a video directed by Outa Road. Notably, Ryan has performed live at STING 2011 and Spring Break 2012, adding to his impressive list of accomplishments.

Personal Life:

Ryan Oneil currently resides in Middletown, Rhode Island, and is a proud father to his children, Brittany and Ryan Jr.
