Early Life and Beginnings
Born Milton G. Jackson Jr., Phorein was raised in the rural district of Salt Spring, Montego Bay, Jamaica. His journey into music began at just 12 years old when he wrote his first song, “Settled for Me,” inspired by his love for his homeland of Jamaica.
Entering the U.S. and Initial Success
At age 16, he moved to Connecticut in the United States, where he recorded “Sipping Champagne” with Junior Holt. Their collaboration led to winning on the long-running TV show Showtime at the Apollo. This single launched his career, and soon he was recording with icons like Elephant Man and Merciless. He went on to tour in both the U.S. and Jamaica, performing with Christine Hewitt and the CO2 Band, and sharing stages with Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, Mad Cobra, and other reggae stars.

Giving Back Through Music
All profits from his music sales are directed to the SAJ Foundation. His commitment to Jamaica shines through his songs and his charitable work, as he strives to make a lasting impact on the lives of young Jamaicans.
