He has a younger sister named Sage Landis Von Jones. Both of his parents worked as fashion models before he was born. He was raised celebrating both Christmas and Hanukkah and attended Hebrew school.
As a child, 24kGoldn appeared in commercials and developed an interest in entertainment. He sang in the choir during middle school and high school, which helped strengthen his connection to music. Before considering music as a professional career, he had planned to become a hedge fund manager. He attended Lowell High School, a selective public high school in San Francisco, graduating in 2018.
After high school, he enrolled at the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business. He joined the Beta-Sigma Chapter of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity as a Spring 2019 initiate. Initially, he took a leave of absence from university to pursue his growing music career. He explained that he had not expected his success to happen so quickly after arriving at USC, but wanted to finish the school year and maintain the relationships he had built on campus. He also credited student life with helping him stay grounded.
Career
24kGoldn began releasing music online in 2016 and gained early attention with songs such as “Ice Cream Man” and “Trappers Anthem”. In 2017, he released a music video for “Trappers Anthem”, marking one of his early steps toward establishing himself as an artist.
In January 2019, he released “Valentino”, which became his breakthrough single and accumulated hundreds of millions of streams on Spotify. The song helped him secure a record deal through producer D.A. Doman and brought him wider recognition. Although the track became a major success, 24kGoldn later explained that it had been recorded more than a year earlier and did not fully represent the person he had become.
In November 2019, he released his debut extended play (EP), Dropped Outta College, through Records, LLC and Columbia Records. The project helped establish his distinctive blend of melodic rap, pop, and alternative influences.
In 2020, he gained further recognition with “City of Angels”, which was officially released to US alternative radio on March 31. An official remix featuring English singer-songwriter Yungblud followed in May. On May 20, he also appeared on the remix of Olivia O’Brien’s single “Josslyn”.
On August 11, 2020, 24kGoldn was included in XXL’s 2020 Freshman Class, earning the tenth position after receiving the most fan votes. That same year, his collaboration with Iann Dior, “Mood”, became a worldwide hit. Originally released in July 2020, the song climbed the charts and eventually reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100, where it spent eight weeks at the top. Its success established him as one of the most commercially successful emerging artists of the period.
In October 2020, he also starred in Halloween in Hell, a fictional musical horror podcast featuring Iann Dior, Machine Gun Kelly, Dana Dentata, Phem, and Tommy Lee.
On March 26, 2021, 24kGoldn released his debut studio album, El Dorado. The 13-track project featured guest appearances from Future, Iann Dior, Swae Lee, and DaBaby. It included songs such as “3, 2, 1”, “Love or Lust”, and “Company”. The album showcased his ability to combine melodic rap, pop-rock influences, and contemporary hip-hop.
Later in 2021, he released “Prada”, featuring Lil Tecca, and continued collaborating with artists across different musical styles.
In 2022, he released several new singles, including “In My Head”, a collaboration with drummer Travis Barker, which explored a more alternative-rock direction. He also collaborated with British singer Mabel on “Overthinking”, further demonstrating his interest in combining pop and rap influences. Other releases from this period included “Mistakes” and “Checkers”, featuring Bandmanrill.
In 2023, 24kGoldn continued expanding his catalogue through collaborations and independent releases. He appeared on “My City”, alongside G Herbo and Kane Brown, for the soundtrack of Fast X. He also released songs including “Bite” and “Señorita”, featuring Lil Tecca. During the same year, he collaborated with South Korean singer Jihyo on “Talkin’ About It”, from her debut EP Zone, and worked with producer and musician Terrace Martin on “Madness”.
On March 15, 2024, he released Growing Pains, a seven-track EP through Records and Columbia Records. The project included “Good Intentions”, “Rush” featuring Leikeli47, “I’m Here”, “Innocence”, “Dog House”, “I Remember”, and “Clarity”. The release marked another chapter in his musical evolution, exploring more introspective themes and a range of pop and hip-hop sounds.
In 2024, he also collaborated with British DJ and producer Sigala and singer Trevor Daniel on “It’s a Feeling”. The song introduced his vocals to a dance-pop and electronic music audience. Other releases and collaborations from the year included “WYA” with Leah Kate and the single “All Night”.
In 2025, 24kGoldn continued releasing music with the EP Icarus, released on July 25. The four-track project included “June”, “Next Life”, and “A Girl’s Dream”, alongside its other material. He followed it with Icarus II, released on November 14, 2025, a seven-track project that continued his exploration of melodic pop and alternative influences. The releases marked a new phase in his musical output, with a focus on developing his sound beyond the style of his early chart successes.
In 2026, he continued working with international artists and producers. He collaborated with South Korean boy group TWS on “YOU LIKE IT I LOVE IT”, released in March, and with electronic music producer Zerb on “Fast Friends”, released in May. On September 24, 2026, he released “STARTING WITH YOU”, a collaboration with Wyatt Woodley, accompanied by a two-track release that also included “9-5”.
Artistry
24kGoldn’s music spans a variety of genres, including hip-hop, pop rap, trap, pop-rock, and alternative pop. His approach is motivated by his desire never to be restricted by a single musical category. He has explained that his music can be described in different ways depending on the song, reflecting his interest in experimenting with different sounds and styles.
His musical identity combines melodic vocals, rap performances, catchy hooks, and genre-blending production. Throughout his career, he has worked with artists from different musical backgrounds, including Iann Dior, Future, DaBaby, Swae Lee, Travis Barker, Mabel, Lil Tecca, Sigala, and Leikeli47.
He has credited rapper Paypa Boy and 24Kay with helping him develop his musical maturity and encouraging him to begin recording music. His willingness to explore different styles has remained a defining characteristic of his career, from the pop-rap success of “Mood” to his later alternative, electronic, and international collaborations.
