Early Life

10Tik was born in Kingston, Jamaica, and grew up in Rockfort, East Kingston, alongside his twin sisters. He attended basic school in Harbour View, where his teachers quickly noticed that he was exceptionally bright. According to family accounts, at just three years old his teacher struggled to decide which class he should be placed in because he was already performing above his age level. He was eventually placed in the highest class available for three-year-olds, where he remained throughout his early years.

Moving to Manchester

After his twin sisters successfully passed their GSAT examinations, the family relocated to Manchester to live with their father. There, 10Tik attended Mandeville Primary and Junior High School before earning a place at the prestigious DeCarteret College through his GSAT results.

Education and Academic Success

10Tik spent five years at DeCarteret College, where he excelled academically and graduated with nine CXC subjects. Despite his strong academic achievements, music had already become an important part of his life from the age of six.

Musical Influences and Passion for Singing

Although there were no professional singers in his family, music was always present in the household. His twin sisters were well known in their community for their dancing abilities and were often the center of attention at local events. They encouraged him to dance as well, but he soon realized that while he loved music, his true passion was singing. Their love for entertainment and performance became a major source of inspiration during his childhood.

From Firefighter to Full-Time Artist

After leaving school, 10Tik pursued a career as a firefighter and served for approximately five years. Throughout this period, he continued to develop his musical talent and work toward a career in entertainment. Eventually, he made the difficult decision to leave the security of his profession and dedicate himself fully to music.

Breakthrough with “Roll Deep”

Like many artists, he faced years of challenges and setbacks while trying to establish himself in the music industry. However, his persistence paid off in 2021 when his hit single “Roll Deep” gained widespread attention across Jamaica and beyond. The success of the song introduced him to a larger audience and helped cement his reputation as one of Jamaica’s most promising new dancehall artists.

International Collaborations and Caribbean Connection

As his popularity continued to grow, 10Tik expanded his reach beyond Jamaica through collaborations with artists from different parts of the Caribbean. One of the most notable connections has been with French Caribbean dancehall artist Ken Vybz. Together, they released tracks such as Dem Nobody and Thick Flesh, helping introduce 10Tik’s music to audiences in the French West Indies, French Guiana, Haiti, and other Francophone territories. Their collaborations highlighted the growing connection between Jamaican dancehall and the French Caribbean urban music scene, allowing both artists to reach new listeners across different cultures and languages.
